The Agony of Regret

THE AGONY OF REGRET  By: Patsy Weiser

Have you ever experienced the feelings associated with regret? It could be a mild feeling of sadness or disappointment over something said or done or even undone. On the other hand, it could be an extreme gut-wrenching, nauseating feeling of remorse that affects one’s entire being.

Sometimes we can go back and redo the things that we regret, such as apologize for words said or redo something unfinished or uncompleted. Other times we cannot and have to accept it or deal with it, and move on.

However, there is one regret that definitely cannot be redone or corrected after the fact. That will be the agony of regret felt by those souls that had the opportunity while still alive to choose Jesus but for whatever reason did not.

Once a person is dead without Christ, there is no second chance. Your family or friends cannot pray you into heaven once you have died. Therefore it is important to take care of that matter while there is still time. Many people do not think hell is a real place. Just because that is what they believe, does not change the fact that it does indeed exist. You may not believe that fire burns but that does not change the fact that it does.

Hell is spoken of many times in the Bible. The only way to escape going there is to repent of one’s sins and accept Jesus Christ as the Lord of your life. No one is guaranteed tomorrow. If today would be the last day of your life, where are you going to spend eternity? There are only two options: heaven or hell. I encourage you to make the right choice today and escape the agony of the worst regret imaginable. (See Romans 10: 9-10)
